Winter Tree Identification Class
A workshop designed to boost winter identification skills for arborists, restorationists and naturalists. The course is certified through the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) for 3.25 CEU credits.
In this course you will learn:
Key characters needed to identify common Midwestern trees by bark, buds, scent and seeds
How to use published and online resources for winter identification
How to use dichotomous keys for dormant season identification
Primary wood grain characters useful for identification
Characters to distinguish different evergreen tree species
Handouts including keys and a table with key winter identification characters will be provided.
